Each row below is one way of asking iOS to hand a link to the Alamo app instead of Safari. Tap the button, watch what happens, then say what you saw. The three buttons are shorthand; the line under them is yours, so write whatever actually happened, including the parts that do not fit a button. An error alert is a result, not a failure. It means iOS knows nothing about that address, which is exactly what we want to learn.
Alamo publishes a file telling iOS which of their web addresses the app is allowed to claim. It lists four, all of them Victory sign-up. If these two open the app, handoff is possible and the only question left is where it can land you.
A normal showtimes address, the kind the feed links to. Alamo has not claimed it, so this should stay in Safari. If it opens the app, everything I told you is wrong and that is worth knowing.
Settled, no need to run these again. Reading the app itself turned up exactly one private address, the callback Facebook login uses, so there was never a door here to find. Your six refusals were the right answer. Left in place as the record.
The app is willing to handle all of drafthouse.com; their server only grants it the Victory paths. These keep the address the server permits but hang a film on the end of it, in the three places iOS will still carry through. If the app reads any of them, a real button becomes possible. If it lands on the same Victory screen every time, it does not.
iOS treats a link you press differently from one a script jumps to, and it does not always hand the scripted kind to an app. This is the same address three ways. It decides what an in-feed button would have to be built out of, so it matters more than it looks.
Not a deep link at all. The App Store page for an app you already own offers an Open button, which is a plain way into the app that needs nobody's permission. Worth knowing how many taps it really costs. Also tell me whether a strip appeared at the very top of this page in Safari offering to open the app, because that is the same trick without the detour.
This one is not a tap test, it is the only way to see what Alamo themselves consider a link to a movie. Open the Alamo app, go to any film, and use its share button. Whatever address it hands you is their own answer to this whole question. Paste it here.
