Each row below is one way of asking iOS to hand a link to the Alamo app instead of Safari. Tap the button, watch what happens, then answer the three-way question underneath. An error alert is a result, not a failure. It means iOS knows nothing about that address, which is exactly what we want to learn.

Proven route

Alamo publishes a file telling iOS which of their web addresses the app is allowed to claim. It lists four, all of them Victory sign-up. If these two open the app, handoff is possible and the only question left is where it can land you.

Control

A normal showtimes address, the kind the feed links to. Alamo has not claimed it, so this should stay in Safari. If it opens the app, everything I told you is wrong and that is worth knowing.

Private doors

Apps can also register a private address of their own that never appears in any public file. Nothing documents one for Alamo, so these are educated guesses drawn from their App Store name, their bundle identifier, and the New Zealand cinema platform the app is built on. Most will refuse. One might not.
